Getting started
Do I need an account to use FlashFocus?

No. You get full access as a guest — study, quiz, create cards, and track stats without signing up. An account is only needed if you want to sync your progress across multiple devices. You can create one later, and all your existing data carries over.

Is FlashFocus free?

Yes — FlashFocus is free to download and free to start. You can study, quiz yourself, and build your own decks at no cost.

How do I add a language?

Tap the Create tab, then Browse Languages to see the available vocabulary packs. Pick a language and level to download it to your device. Once downloaded, it works completely offline.

Studying & quizzes
How does the study streak work?

Your streak counts each consecutive day you complete study activity. Miss a day and it resets. Tap the help icon on the streak card on the Home screen for a full explanation of how the current day is counted.

What quiz modes are there?

The Quiz tab has three modes: Multiple Choice (see a word, pick the meaning), Matching Game (match words to meanings), and Audio Exercise (hear a word and choose the translation). There's also View All Cards for browsing and searching your whole collection.

How do I create my own flashcards?

Go to Create → Add Custom Word. Enter the word, an optional pronunciation, and the translation, then assign a level and category. Your custom cards study and quiz exactly like the downloaded ones.

Audio & pronunciation
The audio isn't playing — how do I fix it?

FlashFocus uses your device's text-to-speech (TTS) engine for pronunciation. If audio is silent:

  1. Check your device isn't on silent and the volume is up.
  2. Make sure a text-to-speech engine and the relevant language voice are installed in your device settings.
  3. In the app, open the study settings and confirm the correct TTS engine is selected.

If it still doesn't work, email me your device model and language and I'll take a look.

Can I hide or show pronunciation (like Pinyin)?

Yes. You can toggle pronunciation visibility while studying, and the app remembers your preference between sessions.

Account, sync & data
How do I sync my progress across devices?

Create a free account in the app. Once you're signed in, your cards, stats, and progress sync automatically and are available on any device where you log in.

Will I lose my data if I create an account after using guest mode?

No — your existing guest data migrates over seamlessly when you create an account, so nothing is lost.

How do I delete my account or data?

You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing gameanimus@gmail.com from the address tied to your account. See the Privacy Policy for details on what data is stored and how it's handled.

Troubleshooting
A language download won't complete.

Downloads need an internet connection. Check that you're online, then retry from Create → Browse Languages. If the download still stalls, close and reopen the app and try again. Persistent issues — send me the language and level you're trying to download.

The app is crashing or won't open.

First, make sure you're on the latest version from the app store. Then fully close the app and reopen it, and restart your device if needed. If the problem continues, email me with your device model, OS version, and app version and I'll investigate.
